Image
Putting Your Best Face Forward: Help for Men’s Skin Care Problems by John Alfred Unique merits define individuals. The merits of unique botanicals define Bullie, a revolutionary men's skin care method. With specialized cleansers, after-shaves, balms and scrubs, Bullie products are customized to meet the needs of three distinctive skin types: all skin/combination, normal/oily and sensitive/dry. Combination Skin Combination skin is medially diagnosed as higher level of oils on the T-Zone (forehead and nose) and a degree of dryness on the rest of the face, cheeks, and jaw line. To help keep the face healthy without causing added dryness or oiliness, certain steps should be taken. There is a long list of enemies that, over time, can damage the face and aggravate combination skin. Exposure to wind and sun are primary but stress, pollutants, petroleum-derived products (mineral oil, etc.), and the natural aging process all contribute. Most of the time men tend to assume any product will...

Botox Toxin Not So Toxic

Image
Botox Toxin Not So Toxic Barry Lycka, M.D. The Botox toxin is not so toxic if you’re trying to take the crinkle out of your wrinkles. The clostridium botulinum bacteria produce Botox. Now you see why we call it Botox for short. The protein toxin is being used around the world to help produce a healthier, more youthful appearance. It’s not surprising that we develop wrinkles, as we grow older. Every time we smile, frown, cry or laugh we make an imprint on our faces. If we’re lucky, it takes years before we can visibly see the imprint. If we’re not lucky, then the wrinkles are more obvious than we’d like. Whichever is the case, the wrinkles inevitably surfaces and when they do Botox is here to fight it. Botox works hard to eliminate the wrinkles that occur when we use our face muscles too much. “I remember when I was growing up, my mother use to tell me not to frown. Never, ever did she tell me that I’d end up looking like this,” says 55-year-old Gladys Rhome. Rhome had botox inje...

Liposuction Boom Reality

Image
Liposuction Boom Reality Barry Lycka, M.D. Are you feeling down and out? Do you feel even worse when you look in the mirror? Cosmetic surgeons tell us you are not alone. They say the popularity of reality television shows like ABC TV’s “Extreme Makeover” has led to an increasing boom in cosmetic surgery. You may be one of the many people who are not happy with the way you look. Look in the mirror right now and tell me what you see. Do you see flabby thighs, a sagging chin or a tubby tummy? If so, then liposuction could be just what the doctor ordered. Liposuction is also known in the medical arena as lipoplasty or “lipo” for short. Lipo surgically removes excess fat from deposits beneath the skin in many areas of the body. The procedure sounds like it hurts. Surgeons use a hollow stainless steel tube called a cannula. The cannula is hooked up to a vacuum. It is inserted into an incision in the skin. Fat deposits are then gently sucked out of the body. “It didn’t hurt at all,” sa...

What Is an Essential Fat?

Image
What Is an Essential Fat? By David Snape You may have heard that essential fats are an important aspect to maintaining the health of your body. But what exactly are they? Basically, there are two truly essential fatty acids,  Linoleic  and  Linolenic . You may have heard of these referred to as  Omega-6  and  Omega-3 fatty acids . So, why are they called essential? The term essential in the life sciences refers to the fact that a nutrient cannot be synthesized by the body. Thus, you must have a dietary or supplemental source to supply your need for these acids. You probably heard of the 8 essential amino acids. It’s the same idea here but in this case we are referring to fatty acids rather than an amino acid. These  fatty acids  exist in and are used in every cell of your body. So they are crucial to a cell’s health and therefore to our health as people. The good news is that in North America, you generally get enough Omega -6 in your d...

Snack Smart for Healthy Teeth

Image
Snack Smart for Healthy Teeth How do sugars attack your teeth? Invisible germs called bacteria live in your mouth all the time. Some of these bacteria form a sticky material called plaque on the surface of the teeth. When you put sugar in your mouth, the bacteria in the plaque gobble up the sweet stuff and turn it into acids. These acids are powerful enough to dissolve the hard enamel that covers your teeth. That's how cavities get started. If you don't eat much sugar, the bacteria can't produce as much of the acid that eats away enamel. How can I "snack smart" to protect myself from tooth decay? Before you start munching on a snack, ask yourself what's in the food you've chosen. Is it loaded with sugar? If it is, think again. Another choicewould be better for your teeth. And keep in mind that certain kinds of sweets can do more damage than others. Gooey or chewy sweets spend more time sticking to the surface of your teeth. Because sticky snacks stay in ...

Here’s What You Need To Know About Piriformis Syndrome (Sciatic Pain)

Image
Here’s What You Need To Know About Piriformis Syndrome (Sciatic Pain) by Jesse Cannone If you’re reading this article, it’s a good bet that you have a radiating pain running down the back of your leg that just won’t go away. If what I’m about to tell you sounds familiar, don’t worry, help is on the way. Sciatica and Piriformis Syndrome are the same condition... it is just that the medical community is starting to call the condition by the muscle (Piriformis) that is involved and getting away from calling it by the name of the nerve that is involved (sciatic) nothing more than semantics. Did you go see your primary care physician and get diagnosis of Sciatica only to have them refer you to an orthopedic specialist and than get a diagnosis of Piriformis Syndrome... and than be told to see a Physical Therapist and the PT tells you a little heat, ultra sound, electrical stimulation and some therapeutic exercises and we will have you good as new??? If this is the path you have been down an...

Can Bleeding Gums and Other Gum Diseases be harmful?

Image
Can Bleeding Gums and Other Gum Diseases be harmful?   by Dr. Harold Katz Recent research in Europe and the U.S. have proven a link between an increase in oral sulfur compounds (from bad breath), which then initiate gum disease and bleeding gums (which are truly open wounds in your mouth). These open bleeding sites allow other dangerous toxins to enter the body's blood stream. There is a strong relationship between gum disease and bad breath, because volatile sulfur compounds (found in bad breath) are needed to initiate the penetration of dangerous toxins below the gum line to start periodontal disease. This new research corroborates our work in finding a non-surgical treatment for gum disease. We strongly encourage the use of a top quality floss to provide a superior level of oral hygiene. When searching for the right therapy program to prevent periodontal disease, be sure to make sure it includes the following items: PeriO2 : This active ingredient releases potent Oxygen m...

How Much Water Should You Drink Per Day?

Image
How Much Water Should You Drink Per Da y? by Marc David I’m always amazed at how many people seem to know the answer to this question yet in practice they fail. Everybody I’ve talked to seems to know that 8-12 glasses of water a day is the recommended standard. You may have heard that essential fats are an important aspect to maintaining the health of your body. But what exactly are they?  But if I ask them how many glasses of water have you consumed today? The answer is usually none. Or the other standard answer at a corporate environment “does coffee count?” While 8-12 glasses of water is great for the average sedentary person, many of us are fitness conscious or on the pursuit of some type of bodybuilding physique. With that in mind, I think the new standard for us should be 1-2 gallons of water a day. As a bodybuilder, you are putting much more nutrients, food, supplements, and other stuff into your body. What your body does not use, it must rid itself of by any means necessary...

So Your Lower Back Hurts?

Image
So Your Lower Back Hurts? by Jesse Cannone Low back pain is one of the most common ailments people suffer from and approximately 8 out of 10 people will deal with back pain at some point in their life. That's a lot of people~ are you one of them? Out of all of the various forms of back pain, lower back pain is by far the most common and there's a good explanation for this. Any idea why? It's not car accidents, it's not work-related injuries, and it's not a lack of prescription medications either. Lack of movement and use is the number one cause of back pain! I bet your orthopedic specialist or chiropractor didn't tell you that, did they? It's the lack of movement in various muscles over years that leads to muscle imbalances and uneven wear and tear on your body, especially the spine. For example, how many times a day are you bending, leaning, or twisting. Here's what the typical person's day is like: - Wake up - Eat breakfast (hopefully) - Drive or r...
